What Pets I Work With
Making sure your pet and your home are the right match for my services
One of the most important parts of providing good care is making sure it’s the right kind of care for the pet I’m working with.
My services are designed to be calm, thoughtful, and low-stress, and in order for that to work, your pet needs to feel safe with me in their space and I need to be able to safely care for them in return.
This page is here to be transparent about what that looks like, so you can feel confident knowing your pet is in the right hands.

At this time, I work exclusively with dogs and cats.
There are no breed or size restrictions. I don’t believe that behavior can be defined by breed alone, and I approach each pet as an individual. What matters most to me is how your pet behaves, how they handle new people, and how comfortable they are in their home environment.
I also work with multi-pet households. I understand that many homes have more than one pet, and I’m happy to provide care for multiple animals within the same visit. When more than one pet requires services, I offer discounted rates to make that more manageable while still ensuring each pet receives proper attention.
Nervous, Anxious, or Fearful Pets?
Not every pet is immediately comfortable with new people and that’s completely okay!
I’m more than happy to work with pets who are shy, cautious, or need a little extra time to warm up. Some animals prefer to observe before engaging, and others may choose to keep their distance during visits. I respect that.
My approach with these pets is slow, patient, and non-invasive. I don’t rush interaction, and I don’t expect immediate trust. In many cases, simply being present in a calm, predictable way is enough to build comfort over time.
Where I Have to Set Boundaries...
While I’m comfortable working with anxious or slow-to-warm pets, I am not able to work with animals who display aggression or have a known history of aggressive behavior.
This includes pets who have bitten, attempted to bite, or show clear signs that they may react aggressively when approached.
It also includes pets who become defensive when their owner is not present, or who do not tolerate unfamiliar people entering the home.
Fear is something I understand and work with, fear aggression is different.
When a pet feels the need to protect themselves through aggressive behavior, it creates a situation that is not safe for them or for me. In those cases, the type of care they need goes beyond what I’m able to provide in a home visit setting.
Comfort with In-Home Care
Because all of my services take place inside your home or need home access, your pet must be able to tolerate someone entering their space.
They don’t need to be overly friendly or outgoing but they do need to be safe.
That means I should be able to enter the home without being met with aggressive behavior, move through the space without restriction, and care for your pet without creating stress or risk.
Some pets like cats may choose to stay in another room or observe from a distance, and that’s perfectly fine as long as the overall environment remains safe.
Why This Matters
These guidelines are not about excluding pets, they’re about protecting them.
When a pet is placed in a situation where they feel overwhelmed or threatened, it can increase stress, damage trust, and potentially lead to unsafe situations.
My goal is always to work within a pet’s comfort level, not push them beyond it.
By making sure we’re a good fit from the start, I’m able to provide care that is calm, consistent, and genuinely beneficial for you and your pet!
Honesty Goes a Long Way!
The best thing you can do for your pet, and for me, is to be honest about their behavior!
There is no judgment here. Every animal is different, and many have their own challenges.
Sharing that information upfront simply allows me to make the safest and most appropriate decision when it comes to their care.
If I ever feel that your pet may not be the right fit for my services, I will always communicate that respectfully and honestly.
A Final Thought
Not every pet will be the right match for every service and that’s okay!
When it is the right fit, everything runs smoother. Your pet is more comfortable, your home stays calm, and you can feel confident knowing your pet is being cared for in a safe and supportive environment.
That’s always the goal!
